Post: Trump Adds Nigeria to Watch List Over Claims of Existential Threat Against Christians

Washington: US President Donald Trump has claimed that Christianity faces a threat in Nigeria, and he was adding the West African nation to a State Department watch list.

According to TRTworld.com, Trump stated that “Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter,” in a post on Truth Social on Friday. He emphasized the severity of the situation, expressing concerns over the safety and freedom of Christians in the region.

Trump announced that Nigeria, Africa’s top oil producer and most populous country, would be placed on the “Countries of Particular Concern” list. This list is compiled by the US State Department to identify nations where significant violations of religious freedom are perceived to occur. By including Nigeria, Trump aims to bring international attention to the reported religious tensions and violence affecting the Christian community in the country.
