Post: Uataviza Patire Talent Academy Celebrates 8th Anniversary with Sports Bash in Gobabis

WINDHOEK – The Uataviza Patire Talent Academy (UPTA) is marking its eighth anniversary with a vibrant end-of-year sports tournament and stakeholder engagement event in Gobabis, a significant occasion in the academy’s calendar.

According to NAMPA, who spoke to Nampa, the academy was established with the mission of nurturing and developing the talents of young Namibians. The event, titled ‘The Closing Chapter 2023’, began at the Legare Stadium in Gobabis on Thursday and is set to conclude on Sunday.

Patire elaborated on the sports stakeholders’ engagement, highlighting its focus on critical issues in the Omaheke Region. Discussions at the event covered topics like regional sports development, updates on current league activities, collaboration among sports stakeholders, plans for regional and national competitions in 2024, and the establishment of a sports forum to oversee regional sports activities.

The sports and entertainment festivities are scheduled to take place at the Legare sports grounds from Friday. In line with its social commitments, the academy has organized a clothing distribution for the underprivileged in the Gobabis community, set to occur on Friday.

Saturday’s agenda features sports competitions, including football and netball matches against teams from Botswana. The event will culminate on Sunday with a special ceremony to honor the winning teams. This ceremony will include closing remarks from the academy committee and invited guests, celebrating the achievements and efforts of all participants.
