Amawbia (Awka South LGA)-Anambra State Government has presented Certificate of Recognition to newly elected Traditional Ruler of Umudioka, Igwe Raphael Chukwurah.
The certificate presentation, which took place at Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, attracted various traditional rulers in the state, including Chairman, Anambra Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Nn’emeka Alfred Achebe.
The Umudioka traditional rulers stool had been vacant for about 14 years.
However, Igwe Raphael Chukwurah was elected in 2005, but was not recognised ever since because of pending court cases against his occupation of the stool.
Gov. Willie Obiano, while presenting the certificate urged the Igwe-elect to ensure enthronement of peace and unity within the community.
He used the opportunity to caution against cultism and illicit activities among youths, warning that his administration had doubled strategies to clamp down their command and control centres.
Igwe Achebe enjoined him to use his present position to attract development by ensuring continued peace and harmony.
Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr Greg Obi noted that it was the intervention of Gov. Obiano in the protracted crisis that resulted in the peaceful resolution of the matter.
Chairman, Anambra State Physical Planning Board, Mr Chike Maduekwe, an indigene of the community, while expressing his gratitude to Government, said the presentation of certificate would end all crises in the community, so as to pave way for development.
