Unidentified gunmen have kidnapped 14 Nigerian workers of an oil company in the region of the Niger Delta in southern Nigeria, Nigerian police reported on Saturday.
The kidnapping took place on Friday, when a bus carrying staff of an oil company in Rivers state was attacked by unknown armed men.
Rivers police spokesman Nnamdi Omoni said the forces are working to free the hostages.
No organization has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping, which has become common in Niger Delta.
The attacks on oil facilities in southern Nigeria have escalated during the recent months, especially by a group calling itself Niger Delta Avengers, in addition to other militias that demand more autonomy and investment in this oil-rich region.
