The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Stuart Symington has called for peaceful gubernatorial elections across Kaduna State.
The US envoy stated in an interview Kaduna shortly after a meeting with Governor Nasiru El-rufai at the government house.
According to him, he was in Kaduna again with the simple message of reminding citizens to remain peaceful after the elections.
When the election is over and people look back on it, saying things akin to joy and Love.
He mentioned that, democracy is more than just about elections but its aftermath. Just like the slogan said by people in different ways, ‘vote don’t fight or elections are not war’.
Symington added that, election is a partnership which should not just be between people and government but people and each other, saying the community binds the State and Nation as one.
In a separate interview, Governor Nasiru El-Rufai called on the people of Kaduna to disappoint the nay-sayers by conducting themselves peacefully in the Saturday Governortorial and State Assembly elections.
El-Rufai was thankful for the peaceful Presidential elections across the State despite the series of conflicts that occurred before the polls.
He appealed for calm in the next polls and urged people of Kaduna state to emphasise common humanity by coming out on Saturday and vote peacefully .
The Governor also prayed for God’s best choice of candidate for the State who will in turn take Kaduna farther on the part of development and progress.
