Nigeria’s Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has urged the people of Ogun State to vote for candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Saturdays gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections.
Nigerians will go to the polls on Saturday to elect governors and state legislators, two weeks after President Muhammad Buhari and Vice President Osinbajo were re-elected for another four-year term in office.
Speaking to supporters of the APC on Wednesday at the Centenary Hall, Abeokuta, the state capital, Osinbajo said voting the party’s candidate, Dapo Abiodun, and his running mate, Mrs Noimot Salako-Oyedele, would ensure that Ogun State would not be in opposition to the party at the federal level.
According to the vice president, there has been a harmonious relationship between states in the South West geopolitical zone and the federal government since the APC assumed power in 2015.
While thanking them for voting the APC in the presidential and National Assembly elections, Professor Osinbajo urged them to come out en mass on Saturday and vote for the party’s candidates.
In his remarks, the gubernatorial candidate of the party in the state, Dapo Abiodun, appealed to people to vote for him and the candidates of the party for the state House of Assembly.
On arrival in Abeokuta, Vice President Osinbajo visited the Kuto, Itoku and Lafenwa markets in the city, where party supporters had gathered to welcome him.
