The third virtual meeting of the National Economic Council, NEC, has begun on Thursday at the State House with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo presiding.
Thursday’s meeting deliberates on how to involve some governors of Nigeria’s 36 states in the implementation of the Economis Sustainability Plan, ESP, worked out by the Osinbajo-led Economic Sustainability Committee.
Professor Osinbajo hinted at the last meeting of the NEC that some governors would be co-opted into the committee as government proceeds with the implementation of the plan.
The Nigerian Governors’ Forum made a presentation at the last meeting of NEC on how the states could collaborate effectively with the Government on the implementation of the recently approved N2.3 trillion stimulus plan.
Osinbajo said at the meeting that possibly two State Governors could join the Committee for the implementation phase of the plan.
He said such would be helpful and bring synergy.
Vice President Osinbajo is presiding over the virtual meeting from his office, while governors are participating from the states.
