Vice President Kashim Shettima is currently chairing the session of the National Economic Council.
The meeting, which started at 13:20 GMT, is taking place at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The meeting is being attended by State Governors, the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, and the representative of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria among others.
The National Economic Council is a statutory body that advises the President on economic matters.
It is expected that today’s meeting will centre on the recent fluctuations in the price of premium motor spirit, as well as the rising cost of food items and transportation.
Nigeria’s business mogul, Aliko Dangote and American Business tycoon, Bill Gates are also attending the meeting to brief the Council on business and health-related issues.
