Lagos:The Lagos State Government, through its Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), has successfully trained 1,700 individuals in digital marketing to enhance business growth and improve livelihoods.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Commissioner for WAPA, Mrs. Cecilia-Dada Bolaji, highlighted the importance of digital skills during the graduation ceremony in Agege. The training, themed ‘From Local Business to Global Market: Leveraging Digital Marketing for Business Growth,’ aimed to equip market women, men, SMEs, and young adults with essential digital competencies.
The initiative also included the distribution of tablets and Android phones to the participants to facilitate the practical application of their newly acquired digital knowledge. Bolaji emphasized the significance of these tools in helping the beneficiaries promote their products and maintain communication with customers.
Mrs. Rianat Onigbanjo, Permanent Secretary of WAPA, noted that the three-day program provided participants with the skills necessary to fortify their businesses and explore new opportunities. She expressed gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for supporting skill-building initiatives and commended both the commissioner and Liquid Luck Consulting for their roles in the program’s success.
Beneficiaries of the training shared their positive experiences and plans to apply the digital skills to their businesses. Mr. Uchenna Ogbonna, a student and entrepreneur, reported successfully using digital marketing to showcase his solar products, while Miss Aisha Falola, a caterer, and Miss Mariam Sanusi, a shoemaker, each noted the training’s impact on their business promotion strategies through social media platforms.
Previous beneficiaries also expressed appreciation for the program, citing significant improvements in their business operations and market reach due to the digital marketing skills acquired.
