Awka-Anambra State Commissioner for Works, Mr Marcel Ifejiofor on May 13 locked out some staff of the Ministry of Works over late coming to the office.
The action according to the commissioner is aimed at instilling discipline in the workers. He locked the gate into the ministry at 9 am.
I will not tolerate the culture of late coming among civil servants in this ministry.
I see no reason why our staff will not be punctual to work since Gov. Willie Obiano has made their welfare a priority of his administration.
He adds: the Governor ensures prompt payment of salaries which has earned him the accolade of Alert Governor”.
Ifejiofor, then, directed the Permanent Secretary, Mr Emeka Ohuoha, a lawyer, to ensure that appropriate punishments would be meted out to the late comers.
He noted that this would serve as deterrent to others, irrespective of their positions in the ministry.
Status does not matter, what matters is, doing the right thing at the right time,” the commissioner emphasised.
