Post: Yobe Governor Approves Salaried Placement for 1,095 Health Students


Damaturu:Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe has approved the employment of 1,095 medical and allied health science students who are undergoing training in higher education institutions within and outside Nigeria.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, the announcement was made by Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, Buni’s Director-General Press and Media Affairs. The initiative includes the employment of 294 medical students at Grade Level (GL) 7/2 and 801 Allied Health Science Students at GL 05/2. This move aims to alleviate the financial burdens on parents and guardians regarding school fees and other academic costs.



This employment plan is designed to motivate students to pursue their studies with dedication, with the expectation that they will serve in government health facilities upon graduation. Additionally, Governor Buni has approved the implementation of the Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance (CATA) and Earned Academic Allowance (EAA) for the eight state-owned tertiary institutions and other government bodies.



The institutions set to benefit include the College of Agriculture, Science and Technology Gujba, Galtima Mai Kyari College of Health Science and Technology Nguru, Shehu Sule College of Nursing and Midwifery Damaturu, College of Administration, Management and Technology Potiskum, Mai Idris Alooma Polytechnic Geidam, Atiku Abubakar College of Education and Legal Studies Nguru, Umar Suleiman College of Education Gashua, among others.



Furthermore, the governor approved an upward revision of entry points for veterinary medical officers in the state civil service. This includes adjustments from CONMESS 2/2 to 3/2, and various other levels up to 7/1. The governor also sanctioned a consolidated salary structure for law officers in the state Ministry of Justice and adjusted the salary structure for judiciary staff to the CONJUSS framework.



Governor Buni emphasized that these approvals are meant to enhance the welfare and motivation of the beneficiaries, calling on them to deliver improved service for the state’s development.
