The Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN) has urged Christians in the country to overcome the temptation of promoting selfish agenda.
CAN urges all Nigerians to guard against actions and behaviours that can be detrimental to the goal of the Christian Association of Nigeria and “jeopardize the message of the Gospel”.
CAN Chairman, Niger State Chapter in North Central Nigeria, Revd Father Bulus Dauwa, gave the call during a press briefing in Minna the State Capital.
Revd Father Dauwa also urged Nigerians to elect leaders with credibility in 2023 general election.
“A Christian worthy of that name must see the coming election as a duty to bring Nigeria back from the brink of destruction and as an assertion of faith that God truly desires all that is good for us,” he said.
” The 2023 general election is another golden opportunity being afforded us by God and will do our due diligence in making sure that we elect those that we believed can really work for us.
“We Should endeavor to elect leaders who have the capacity, credibility, good character to create an enabling environment for all Nigerians to thrive, live in dignity and in peace and in God given freedom,” he added.
Revd. Dauwa further urged Christians to actively promote the Christian duty of active participation in their civic responsibility by going out to cast our vote on Election day.
The CAN Chairman encouraged Nigerians on the need to collect their PVC and not be discouraged by the wait time that may be required, and called on Christian faithful to go out and cast their votes in fulfillment of the good that God desires for the Country,.
Revd Father Dauwa also appealed to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and his team at the State levels to be firm, upright and to remain unbiased during the 2023 General Elections.
While congratulating Christians on the Christmas and Yuletide celebration, Revd Yohana Dauwa, reminded them that “Christmas is a special period that brings people of the world together with one purpose; to celebrate togetherness, joy, peace, and above all, to share love with one another through exchange of goodwill and gifts”.
“The birth of our Lord Jesus Christ is to free people from the bondage of sin and as followers of Jesus, we are called to do no less”.
He however urged every Christians to remain hopeful because the birth of Christ heralds good tidings to all mankind.
“I admonished us all to heed the call of the Gospel to bring about the reign of God which is peace, justice and equity in our land and in the world.”
