Ijagbo:Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara inaugurated the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq Morire Housing Estate in Ijagbo, Oyun Local Government Area, featuring 464 housing units.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the estate comprises 210 two-bedroom terrace apartments, 200 three-bedroom units, and 54 four-bedroom terrace duplexes. The inauguration was attended by the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Segun Ogunsola, representing the governor.
The governor emphasized that the Morire City Project showcases the potential of government-facilitated private investment in housing. The developer named the estate after him to honor his efforts in advancing mass housing in the state.
AbdulRazaq highlighted reforms that have shortened Certificate of Occupancy processing from 180 to 35 days. He noted that housing development is prioritized on the government agenda as it is crucial to citizens’ wellbeing.
The governor mentioned the Kwara Smart City and other initiatives as evidence of the state’s commitment to housing. Efforts include ensuring land access, streamlining title issuance, and expediting market transaction approvals.
Significant progress has been made, with about 600 Certificates of Occupancy approved since the reforms. The improved processes underscore the administration’s intent to enhance transparency and efficiency in land management.
Dr. Olayinka Ilufoye, CEO of ISHI Homes, stated that the project aims to democratize home ownership in Kwara South, targeting civil servants and traders through the National Housing Fund. The estate’s name, meaning “I have seen goodness,” reflects aspirations for prosperity in the region.
The Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Geographic Information Service, Alhaji Sulyman Abdulkareem, praised the government for its proactive approach in facilitating housing development, ensuring timely land access, and supporting mortgage transactions.
