Abuja:The Abuja International Trade Fair (AITF), organized by the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), is set to offer businesses the chance to forge connections with customers, investors, distributors, and international partners. The event was inaugurated on Tuesday by Mr. Agbaidu Jideani, Director-General of ACCI, during the opening ceremony of its 21st edition.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the fair operates under the theme ‘Resilience, Trade, Taxation and the Economy’ and aims to go beyond a mere exhibition. Mr. Jideani emphasized its role as a strategic platform for showcasing products, exploring new markets, and forming vital partnerships. It aligns with ACCI’s mission to promote trade and investment, support enterprise development, and champion a conducive business environment.
In his remarks, Jideani expressed gratitude towards the Federal Government, specifically the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, for their support in advancing trade, investment, and private-sector growth. He also acknowledged the participation of the Presidency, highlighting its significance for national development. The support of the FCT Administration in enhancing Abuja’s status as a commercial hub was also appreciated.
Jideani extended his thanks to the diplomatic corps and foreign missions for fostering economic ties between Nigerian businesses and the global market. Additionally, he recognized the contributions of traditional rulers, sponsors, strategic partners, and supporting organizations to the fair’s success.
Businesses attending the 12-day fair were encouraged by Jideani to engage with customers, negotiate deals, and seek new business avenues. He also acknowledged the support from trade associations, business groups, entrepreneurs, investors, and visitors.
The media’s role in promoting innovations and opportunities from the fair was praised by Jideani, who stressed the importance of turning connections made at the event into substantial economic opportunities for Nigeria.
Further highlighting collaboration, Mr. Christopher Mensah-Yawson from the ECOWAS Commission pledged ongoing support for ACCI to bolster economic growth, urging participants to leverage the fair for building partnerships and understanding market standards.
Mr. Omoh Anabor, Commissioner for Business, Trade and Investment in Edo, expressed the state’s readiness to collaborate with ACCI and investors to boost business and economic development, reinforcing Edo’s conducive environment for enterprise.
