Abuja:The Auditor-General for the Federation, Mr. Shaakaa Chira, has called on civil servants to adopt the practice of documenting their knowledge and professional experiences to enhance public service delivery. He made this appeal during the presentation of ‘The Next Level,’ a book authored by Mr. Tajudeen Adesoye, Director of Audit at the Office of the Auditor-General for the Federation.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Chira encouraged other directors to follow Adesoye’s example, noting that the book serves as a valuable resource for civil servants preparing for promotional examinations and as a reference guide for official duties, including report writing. He emphasized the importance of the book for both staff members and their families, highlighting its coverage of topics such as the Public Service Rules (PSR) and general knowledge.
Dr. Agan Shangevzua, the Chairman and Chief Launcher of the book and a Commissioner with the Federal Civil Service Commission, praised the Auditor-General for his support of the author and for promoting staff development. He noted that the emphasis on staff development has fostered progress and a harmonious working environment within the organization.
Mr. Shaibu Sikiru, the book reviewer and Acting Director of the Consolidated Accounts Department at the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, described the book as a tool designed to assist civil servants with professional and promotional exam preparations. He explained that the book covers topics such as Performance Audit, Nigeria’s Foreign Service Regulations, public procurement, and taxation, and includes questions on various subject areas.
Sikiru discussed the evolution of public procurement administration, noting the establishment of the Bureau of Public Procurement under the Public Procurement Act. He highlighted the increased accountability for public officers involved in procurement processes and emphasized the importance of broad knowledge in the era of Computer-Based Testing (CBT). He advised civil servants to use artificial intelligence and relevant reference materials when tackling challenging questions.
Adesoye, the author, expressed gratitude to the Auditor-General for his support and shared that his experience transitioning from the banking sector to public service inspired the book. He aimed to provide concise reference material for civil servants preparing for exams under tight schedules and shared that the manuscript had existed since 2018 but was delayed due to time constraints. Adesoye appreciated his staff and well-wishers for their encouragement and contributions to the book’s production and presentation.
