Abuja:The Professor Chris Imumolen-led faction of the Accord Party has announced that the party currently has no candidate for the 2027 Oyo Governorship election.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the faction’s National Secretary, Abdullahi Muktar, stated that neither Oriyomi Hamzat nor Olakunle Busari, known as Gudugudu, is recognized as the legitimate candidate of the party. The faction has rejected and nullified the processes that resulted in their candidacies.
Muktar emphasized the importance of conducting a proper and legitimate process in accordance with the law and the party’s authentic leadership structure. He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to update its records to accurately reflect the current legal status of the Accord Party and its Oyo governorship nomination.
He also mentioned that the leadership dispute within the Accord Party is currently being addressed by the Federal High Court, which will ultimately determine the party’s legitimate leadership. Muktar expressed confidence that once the court resolves the issue, all relevant institutions, including INEC, will adhere to the court’s binding decision.
Muktar concluded by stating that it is time to end the era of confusion and emphasized that the Accord Party deserves a single legitimate leadership, a lawful process, and an authentic structure.
