Lagos: The Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, Mr. Olalekan Olu-Akindipe, has launched significant infrastructure projects and empowered thousands of residents in a bid to mark his first year in office.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the announcement was made during the culmination of activities celebrating Olu-Akindipe’s one year in office. The chairman highlighted several completed projects, including the Maracana Footbridge, Ajasa Motorable Bridge, and Mokoya Motorable Bridge, along with the establishment of the Oluwa Nursery and Primary School. Three solar-powered boreholes were also inaugurated in Wards B, H, and I. The highlight was the inauguration of the newly-completed Oluwa Street by Mrs. Damilola Sanayon, the APC Deputy Governorship Candidate for Lagos State, whose participation underscored the project’s importance to the community.
The chairman also unveiled an empowerment program providing cash grants and equipment to help residents start or enhance their small-scale businesses. He reaffirmed his commitment to impactful governance, focusing on infrastructure, education, healthcare, environmental sanitation, youth and women development, social welfare, and human capital development.
Olu-Akindipe expressed gratitude to residents for their support, emphasizing the importance of their partnership for future development. He stated that the empowerment program distributed various equipment including deep freezers, industrial machines, stone-processing machines, and other tools to aid local businesses. Additionally, the council provided bags of rice and cash to widows and elderly residents, demonstrating a commitment to grassroots development and inclusive governance.
Olu-Akindipe praised President Bola Tinubu’s administration for increasing allocations to local governments, which he said has bolstered their capacity to deliver development. He expressed optimism for continued progress in Ajeromi-Ifelodun, thanking the president for the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The event was attended by esteemed figures such as Prince Rabiu Oluwa and Oba Moruf Oluwa, who commended the chairman’s achievements and offered their support. The past council chairman and beneficiaries of the empowerment program also praised the administration’s efforts in reducing poverty and promoting economic growth.
The anniversary celebration served as a platform to showcase the administration’s achievements and reinforce its dedication to leadership, development, and service to the community.
