Lafia: The Arewa Consultative Forum Unity Football Tournament commenced in the North Central region of Nigeria, with Kogi State U-17 team advancing to the semifinals by defeating Nasarawa State 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw. The thrilling match took place at the Lafia City Stadium in Nasarawa State.
According to Voice of Nigeria, the tournament was inaugurated by Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Alhassan, the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Youth and Sport Development. He praised the organizers for their initiative and assured them of the State Government’s support for the event.
Dr. Sadiq Fakai, the Coordinator of the Arewa Consultative Forum Football Tournament, highlighted that the competition aims to foster unity, peace, and youth empowerment through sports while celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Forum. He encouraged participants to take the opportunity seriously, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration among the players.
Fakai also expressed gratitude to the Nasarawa State Govern
ment for hosting the tournament on behalf of the North Central Region, acknowledging their hospitality and support. The tournament will see participation from seven states within the North Central Zone.
