Abuja:The Ashlee Momoh Foundation has urged calm and restraint in response to the backlash following comments attributed to the Minister of Defence, retired Gen. Christopher Musa.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, Princess Ashlee Momoh, expressed concern over the alleged misinterpretation of Musa’s statements during a national television interview regarding a former governor. She emphasized the importance of national unity and warned against narratives that could divide the country.
Momoh highlighted that the alleged comments have caused tension, particularly in Northern Nigeria, and appeared to undermine a figure who was celebrated across ethnic and regional lines upon his appointment by President Bola Tinubu. She stressed the necessity for unity at this critical time in Nigeria’s history.
The CEO urged Nigerians to approach contentious statements with dialogue rather than exacerbating tensions. She lauded the Defence Minister for his resilience and the Ministry’s achievements in combating insurgency and improving security in volatile areas.
Momoh also commended Gen. Musa’s participation in the United Nations General Assembly and his contributions to national and international security efforts. She called on political stakeholders and the media to help de-escalate tensions and continue supporting Nigeria’s security initiatives.
The Ashlee Momoh Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to peacebuilding and national unity, advocating for initiatives that promote a secure and prosperous Nigeria.
