A Civil Society Group, Action Against Trafficking in Persons Cluster, on Wednesday called for media synergy to combat trafficking in persons. LoftyInc Capital Management, an African focused venture capital firm, has announced closure of the third edition of its “Afropreneurs Fund (LAF3)”. According to a statement by Ayodeji Bello, Founding Partner of LoftyInc, the 10 million dollars fund, which was launched in 2021 was oversubscribed by 14 per cent, closing at 14 million dollars. Bello described LAF3 as a venture capital fund investing in “Seed-to-Series A”, technology-enabled companies founded by African entrepreneurs that are building Africa’s digital infrastructure. The Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa (SEFA), has secured 64 million dollars in grant funding from the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD). The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) also funded SEFA. This is contained in a statement issued by the Communications and External Relations Department of the African Development Bank (AfDB) on Wednesday. Member States of Accra Initiative have agreed to operationalise a Multinational Joint Task Force within a month to tackle the spread of terrorism and other transnational organised crimes. The 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season will commence in December this year, according to the Chairman of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the League, Gbenga Elegbeleye. The Chairman of the African Union High Level Panel on Illicit Financial Flows (IFFs), Mr. Thabo Mbeki has called for a United Nations Tax Convention to halt illicit financial flows from Africa and multinational and corporate tax abuse.
