Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima and Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum were among the prominent figures who attended the funeral prayer for the late mother of former Borno Central Senator Baba Kaka Bashir Garbai.
The prayer was led by the Imam Idaini of Borno, Shettima Mamman Saleh, and took place at the palace of the Shehu of Borno state.
The late Hajja Zainab Abba Bashir passed away early Tuesday morning at a hospital in Maiduguri at the age of 82. She is survived by many children and grandchildren.
Among the traditional rulers present were the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin Elkanemi, the Shehu of Dikwa, Ibrahim Ibn Umar Elkanemi, the Waziri of Borno, Mutawali Shettima Bukar, along with several council members.
Other notable attendees included former Governor Ali Modu Sheriff, Ambassador Babagana Kingibe, APC Deputy National Chairman Ali Bukar Dalori, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Abubakar Kyari, and the Speaker of the Borno Sta
te House of Assembly, Abdulkarim Lawan.
The Secretary to the Borno State Government, Alhaji Bukar Tijani, also led members of the Borno executive council in paying their respects.
