LAGOS – Brent Mortgage Bank Limited has made significant changes to its leadership team, introducing new members to its board and management.
According to a new release by News Agency of Nigeria, Mr. Adeniyi Bilesanmi, the bank’s Executive Director, Business Development and Corporate Services, announced the appointments from the bank’s head office in Lagos on Sunday. Dr. Oluseye Awojobi, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (FCIB), was appointed as the Board Chairman, effective from August 2023. Awojobi is the immediate-past Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.
Additionally, Mrs. Adeola Simon, an Honourary Chartered Institute of Bankers (HCIB), has been named the new Managing Director and CEO. Simon had been acting in that position since January and previously served as the bank’s Executive Director in charge of Credit and Enterprise Risk Management.
The announcement also included the appointment of Mrs. Folashade Onyia, Mr. Bola Aruna, and Mrs. Eniola Obe as Non-Executive Directors. They joined existing Non-Executive Directors Mr. Lanre Obisesan and Alhaji Bola Oyebamiji, who have been on the board since 2016.
Bilesanmi stated that these appointments follow the successful completion of tenure for the bank’s former Board Chairman, MD/CEO, and three Non-Executive Directors. He said that the changes are in accordance with the Central Bank of Nigeria guidelines that set a maximum of 12 years for Board of Directors.
The Executive Director expressed expectations that the new appointments would bring positive developments and growth to Brent Mortgage Bank Limited. He said that these changes aim to reposition the bank for future challenges and growth.
