Benin: The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has announced its commitment to prioritize competence and merit in its ongoing recruitment exercise. This declaration was made by the board’s Secretary, retired Maj.-Gen. Abdulmalik Jibril, during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Uyo.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Jibril revealed that the recruitment process involves physical screening and document verification at 14 centers across the country, ensuring accessibility for applicants. The verification process includes checking uploaded documents and conducting physical examinations to assess applicants’ fitness levels. The physical screening will examine applicants’ height, eyes, and legs to detect any deformities.
Jibril noted that out of over 1.6 million applicants, approximately 60,000 have been shortlisted for the physical screening. The board plans to recruit no fewer than 30,000 individuals into the service, with the screening exercise currently ongoing in Uyo as part of the final selection process.
He emphasized the board’s dedication to a thorough recruitment process, stating that this approach ensures the selection of only the most qualified candidates. The physical screening and document verification are intended for applicants who participated in the computer-based test conducted in November 2025.
Jibril also advised applicants against offering bribes or incentives, reiterating that the recruitment exercise is entirely free and underscoring the board’s stance against any form of bribery.
