Post: Digital Economy Pushes Ghana’s GDP Growth to 6% in Q2

Ghana: Ghana’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by six per cent in the second quarter of 2026, driven largely by the digital economy.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, TV BRICS, a partner of the agency, reported this on Thursday. The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector recorded a 30.9 per cent year on year growth in the period under review, rising from 21.3 per cent recorded in the corresponding quarter of 2025.

A representative of the Ghana Statistical Service stated that the country’s real output of goods and services stood at 51.3 billion Ghanaian cedis, equivalent to about 4.48 billion dollars, in the second quarter. This was higher than the 48.4 billion Ghanaian cedis, or about 4.22 billion U.S. dollars, recorded in the second quarter of 2025.

The report noted growth in the services sector continued to strengthen, with ICT emerging as a major contributor. It further mentioned that the ICT segment had maintained steady growth over the past three years.
