Post: FCC Chair Calls for Renewed Faith in Nigeria at Independence Anniversary

Abuja:The Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Mrs. Hulayat Omidiran, has urged Nigerians to renew their faith in the nation as the country marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Omidiran emphasized that October 1 is more than just a celebration of freedom; it is an opportunity to reflect on Nigeria’s journey. She called on Nigerians to recognize the country’s progress and challenges while renewing their collective determination to build an inclusive nation.

Omidiran stressed the importance of not losing faith in Nigeria, acknowledging that while challenges exist, so do opportunities and the country’s abundant human and natural resources. She urged every citizen to contribute to building the Nigeria they desire and emphasized that everyone should feel a sense of belonging and have a role in the country’s development.

The FCC chair highlighted the importance of unity over division, service over self-interest, and hope over despair, stating that the dream of a better Nigeria is achievable if everyone plays their part. She underscored the significance of the Federal Character Principle for national cohesion, advocating for equitable representation to promote ownership and confidence in the national project.

Omidiran also called on government institutions to commit to fairness, equity, accountability, and inclusive governance. She reaffirmed the FCC’s commitment to effectively fulfilling its constitutional mandate and supporting equitable representation nationwide.

Addressing the youth, Omidiran encouraged them to pursue knowledge, skills, entrepreneurship, innovation, sports, and other productive endeavors, recognizing them as critical stakeholders in Nigeria’s future. She expressed optimism that the anniversary would strengthen national unity and reminded citizens that building the Nigeria they want requires the commitment of all, from leaders to citizens, young and old, across the federation. Omidiran concluded with a vision for a nation where justice, fairness, opportunity, and peace are accessible to all.
