Abuja: Chief Austin Oguejiofor, a developer, has voiced support for the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, in his efforts to enhance the aesthetics of the nation’s capital through infrastructure development. Oguejiofor, Chairman of First Rotechon Group of Companies, emphasized during a news conference in Abuja that since Wike’s appointment as minister, there has been a commitment to ensuring that the Abuja Master Plan remains intact.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Oguejiofor urged Nigerians to support the FCT Minister in his steps to restore and sustain the glory of the nation’s capital as a world-class city. He noted that since Wike was appointed by President Bola Tinubu as FCT Minister over the past two years, both the city and its suburbs have undergone significant transformation. Residents and visitors to Abuja have expressed satisfaction with the administration’s progress.
Oguejiofor highlighted that the previously decaying and abandoned infrastructure in the FCT is now being revitalized. He stated that Abuja is reclaiming its status as Nigeria’s capital city. As the developer of the Abuja Airport Garden City, he asserted that the FCT should be a source of pride for both Nigerians and Africans, given its well-planned landscape.
The developer further noted the rapid development of the nation’s seat of power, marked by extensive infrastructural improvements that have transformed the city and its suburbs. He praised Wike’s administration for blocking financial leakages, enforcing stringent financial discipline, and reducing governance costs. Oguejiofor acknowledged the minister’s efforts in mobilizing contractors using the Internally Generated Revenue and budgetary allocations, ensuring timely completion of projects.
In terms of security, Oguejiofor credited the minister for the massive installation and rehabilitation of streetlights, which have enhanced the city’s nighttime appeal. He remarked on the significant improvement in the security of lives and property in Abuja and its surrounding areas, a priority for the minister.
The six area councils have also benefited from the administration’s focus, with renovations of primary and secondary schools, construction of new educational facilities, 120km of rural roads, and the rehabilitation of Federal Secretariat phase one.
