Abuja:Some residents in the Federal Capital Territory are urging the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company to enhance public enlightenment about the Meter Asset Provider refund scheme.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, residents from areas such as Kubwa, Gwarinpa, Asokoro, and Dutse have expressed the need for AEDC to expand its communication efforts beyond social media. They suggest utilizing radio jingles and other traditional media platforms to effectively reach electricity consumers who may not use social media.
Joy Ajayi from Gwarinpa emphasized the necessity of radio-based information dissemination. Effiong Daniel from Dutse echoed this sentiment, noting the accessibility of radio for many residents, including those with limited internet access. He stressed the importance of informing consumers about their eligibility for refunds and the procedures involved.
Shotayo Aliyu of Asokoro suggested creating simple radio jingles in both English and local languages to reach a broader audience, including traders and farmers. Adamu Yusuf, also from Asokoro, recommended community sensitization through town-hall meetings and other local gatherings to directly engage with electricity consumers. He highlighted the need for AEDC to clarify who qualifies for refunds and detail the refund process.
Abel Abubakar from Kubwa called for transparency in the refund process, believing it would enhance trust between AEDC and its customers.
Omede Odekina, Head of Brand Marketing and Corporate Communications at AEDC, stated that the company is already using multiple communication channels, including radio, television, and print, to engage with customers. He affirmed AEDC’s commitment to intensifying public enlightenment efforts to ensure information reaches a wider audience.
