Post: Federal Fire Service Recognizes 2,620 Newly Promoted Officers


Abuja: The Federal Fire Service (FFS) has formally decorated 2,620 of its officers and personnel who were promoted by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB). The ceremony took place at the FFS Headquarters, marking a significant milestone in the careers of the newly elevated officers.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, the event was presided over by the FFS Controller-General, Adeyemi Olumode, who emphasized that such promotions are the result of dedication, repeated evaluations, and institutional scrutiny. He stated, “Promotion in the Federal Fire Service is neither automatic nor accidental as it is an outcome of years of commitment, repeated assessments, performance reviews and institutional scrutiny.”



The breakdown of the promotions revealed that five officers were elevated to the rank of Deputy Controller of Fire (DCF), eight to Controller of Fire (CF), and 103 to Chief Superintendent of Fire (CSF). Additionally, 86 were promoted to Superintendent of Fire (SF), 1,912 to Assistant Superintendent of Fire I (ASF I), 152 to Assistant Superintendent of Fire II (ASF II), and 440 to Assistant Inspector of Fire (AIF), totaling 2,620 personnel.



Olumode highlighted that these promotions symbolize greater trust and responsibility assigned to the officers. He remarked, “Your decoration is not merely a reward for past service; it is a call to stronger leadership, deeper discipline, clearer judgment and unwavering integrity. Lead by example, respect the chain of command, embrace innovation and think beyond routine.”



The Controller-General expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering support of security and emergency response agencies, which has played a crucial role in bolstering national resilience. He also lauded the Minister of Interior and Chairman of the CDCFIB, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for providing strategic leadership and emphasizing accountability.



Retired Maj.-Gen. Abdulmalik Jibril, Secretary to the CDCFIB, congratulated the officers and reminded them of the heightened responsibilities that come with their new ranks. He urged them to innovate and contribute new ideas that would advance the Fire Service.



Controller of Fire, Sunday Musa, speaking on behalf of the newly decorated officers, expressed their collective gratitude to President Tinubu, the Minister of Interior, the CDCFIB, and the service leadership for recognizing their efforts and boosting their morale with the promotions. “This ceremony is not only a celebration of promotion but a reaffirmation of trust and higher expectations,” Musa stated.
