Abuja:The Federal Government has initiated technical and vocational training for 777 young Nigerians to aid their transition into the labor market.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Chief Emeka Obegolu, President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), announced the beginning of this initiative during the inauguration of the Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills – Technical and Vocational Education and Training (IDEAS-TVET) project. This project, funded by the World Bank, aims to enhance access to quality technical and vocational education across Nigeria.
Obegolu, represented by Prof. Adesoji Adesugba, First Deputy President of ACCI, revealed that around 80,000 young Nigerians have been trained nationwide in previous cohorts. The current phase involves 777 participants as part of the third cohort of the IDEAS Project, with seven institutions collaborating to equip participants with practical skills for enhanced employability and entrepreneurship.

s will receive training in various fields, including digital and creative media, beauty and cosmetology, construction, and agriculture. The training is designed to be hands-on, with participants expected to engage in activities like shooting, editing, and designing materials as part of their weekly learning.
Upon completion, trainees will graduate with certificates and portfolios that demonstrate their practical experience, thus supporting their employment, freelancing, or entrepreneurship pursuits. Obegolu emphasized the importance of professionalism and consistent practice, urging participants to make the most of the opportunity.
Training providers have been advised to maintain quality instruction, accurate records, and adherence to approved curricula and standards. Obegolu expressed gratitude to the ministry’s IDEAS Project Coordinating Unit and the World Bank for their support.

The IDEAS Project is an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education, supported by the World Bank, designed to expand access to quality technical and vocational education in Nigeria.
