Abuja: Mr Oyetunde Ojo, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), has been honored with an Award of Excellence from the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria (ACAN). The award was presented in Abuja in recognition of his support for anti-corruption reforms and the promotion of transparency within the FHA.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the award was presented by ACAN’s Provost, Prof. Sheriff Ibrahim, who highlighted Ojo’s commitment to promoting integrity, accountability, and ethical governance. Ibrahim emphasized the significance of Ojo’s efforts in strengthening collaboration between the authority and anti-corruption institutions, particularly the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and ACAN.
Ibrahim noted Ojo’s resolve to partner with these bodies to mitigate corrupt practices within the authority. He remarked on the managing director’s role in not only uniting Nigerians through housing but also through his anti-corruption initiatives. Ibrahim further highlighted the positive changes in the authority, such as sanitizing the environment and reducing litigation, as signs of Ojo’s effective leadership.
In response, Ojo stated that the award was a testament to a collective commitment and the integrity of the authority’s workforce. He emphasized that the recognition confirmed the success of their efforts to strengthen transparency, enforce accountability, and restore public trust. Ojo pointed out a noticeable reduction in incidents and allegations involving anti-corruption agencies, attributing this trend to deliberate policy choices and systemic reforms within the FHA.
Ojo outlined the initial steps taken towards these achievements, including the digitalization of FHA’s operations to combat corruption. He mentioned the enhancement of procurement transparency through stricter open-tendering processes and digital documentation. Ojo assured ACAN of the authority’s continued efforts to improve processes through automation and e-platforms to minimize human discretion and increase traceability.
Mrs. Ebere Alalibo, the General Manager of SERVICOM and the Anti-Corruption Unit at FHA, also spoke at the event. She described the award as a recognition of the authority’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and good governance. Alalibo praised Ojo’s leadership and urged staff members to maintain professionalism, honesty, and accountability in their duties to sustain the anti-corruption drive.
