Abuja: The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced its goal of achieving greater efficiency and impact through strategic leadership, following notable achievements in the second quarter of 2026. The announcement was made by the FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, during the ‘Half Year 2026 Corps Marshal Strategy Session with the FRSC High Command’ held in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the session, themed ‘Strengthening Institutional Capacity for Enhanced Service Delivery in a Challenging Environment,’ highlighted the corps’ successes in areas such as enforcement, public enlightenment, emergency response, patrol operations, and stakeholder engagement. Mohammed emphasized that these achievements should serve as a catalyst for building a more resilient and forward-looking institution, rather than a reason for complacency.
The strategy session was described as a crucial platform for reviewing the corps’ performance in the second quarter, assessing the implementation of past resolutions, identifying emerging gaps, and developing strategies to address them. Mohammed underscored the importance of aligning FRSC activities with government expectations and the evolving realities of road safety management in Nigeria.
Despite the commendable achievements, Mohammed acknowledged the increasingly challenging operating environment, citing factors such as rapid technological advancements, changing traffic patterns, increasing vehicle populations, and evolving public expectations. He emphasized the need for the FRSC to strengthen its institutional capacity through effective leadership, personnel development, technology-driven operations, robust data management, innovation, accountability, and efficient resource utilization.
Mohammed urged the top management of the FRSC to provide the strategic leadership necessary to reposition the corps for greater efficiency and impact. He called for evidence-based and solution-oriented deliberations from the corps’ leadership, stressing the importance of coordination and collaboration across commands to achieve institutional effectiveness.
The FRSC Corps Marshal also praised the dedication, professionalism, and resilience of officers who have made sacrifices under challenging circumstances, highlighting their commitment as the corps’ greatest asset. He emphasized the corps’ unwavering commitment to values such as integrity, discipline, professionalism, accountability, and respect for the rule of law.
Mohammed expressed gratitude for the support and encouragement from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and thanked President Bola Tinubu for his commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda. In his remarks, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, represented by Dr. Abubakar Kana, emphasized the need to build stronger institutions and enhance professionalism and service delivery in a demanding environment.
Akume reiterated President Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening public institutions and improving service delivery. He acknowledged the FRSC’s vital role in protecting lives, promoting safer routes, and supporting national development, urging the corps to continue strengthening its systems, investing in personnel, and leveraging technology to remain effective in a rapidly changing environment.
