Abuja:The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure fair conditions for all political parties in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, IPAC’s National Chairman, Dr. Yusuf Dantalle, made this appeal while congratulating Nigerians on the country’s 66th Independence Day. He emphasized the importance of patriotism, unity, tolerance, and good governance, encouraging Nigerians to actively participate and vote for their preferred candidates in the upcoming elections.
Dr. Dantalle stressed that INEC should facilitate a level playing field and guarantee that the elections are free, fair, credible, transparent, and inclusive. Reflecting on Nigeria’s democratic journey, he noted that after 66 years of independence and 27 years of uninterrupted democracy, it is crucial to conduct elections correctly.
Dantalle highlighted the challenges Nigeria has faced, including political upheavals, military interventions, civil war, economic recessions, and socio-religious issues, yet expressed confidence in the country’s resilience and determination to build a strong, united, and just democratic society.
He praised the vision and sacrifices of Nigeria’s founding fathers and called on all levels of government to prioritize the security and welfare of the people, in line with the 1999 Constitution. Dantalle also remarked that true independence involves overcoming poverty and insecurity, which hinder democratic governance.
As the representative body of all registered political parties, IPAC remains committed to sustainable democracy and development in Nigeria.
