Abuja: The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, has called on Nigerian youths to engage in political and social activities to tackle the country’s challenges. Oduwole delivered this message at the 10th Teens Career Conference organized by The Everlasting Arms Parish (TEAP) of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Garki, Abuja. Her Senior Special Assistant on Trade Facilitation, Ms. Olayombo Ade-Ojo, represented her at the event.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Dr. Oduwole emphasized the importance of young Nigerians transitioning from merely discussing problems to actively participating in finding solutions through political involvement and community development. She encouraged youths to start early, become eligible voters at 18, and consider joining political parties to influence societal happenings positively.
Pastor Evaristus Azodoh, the parish pastor, echoed these sentiments, stressing that elections are everyone’s responsibility. He urged youths to shun political thuggery and instead contribute to improving leadership quality in the country. Azodoh challenged youths to reject any offers to engage in political violence and instead participate actively in elections to ensure good governance.
Mrs. Elizabeth Ekpeyong, the Head of the Junior Church Unit, highlighted the conference’s role in connecting teenagers with mentors and inspiring them to effect positive change. She underscored the theme of the 2026 edition, “Rooted for Impact,” as a call for teenagers to make a difference in their communities.
Master Ebubechukwu Ojini, a frequent participant, shared how the conference has been transformative for him. He recounted learning valuable lessons from past speakers, which have guided his actions and aspirations. Now a university student, Ojini strives to positively impact everyone he encounters, embodying the conference’s teachings.
