Freetown: More than 4,270 Sierra Leoneans benefited from services offered by the Africell American Corner between January and June 2026, reflecting rising public interest in free educational support and Africell Sierra Leone’s growing commitment to learning and national development.

According to Sierra Leone News Agency, the Africell American Corner, located in Freetown, has emerged as one of Sierra Leone’s leading free learning centres. It provides access to a well-stocked library, computer laboratory, high-speed internet, conference facilities, and reliable electricity. The centre serves students, journalists, lawyers, doctors, social workers, researchers, and entrepreneurs seeking a suitable environment for study and professional growth.

Coordinator of the Africell American Corner, Francis Kabia, stated that the facility remains dedicated to removing barriers to education through free access to quality services. He disclosed that the centre recorded 4,275 users during the first half of 2026, underscoring growing demand for accessible learning spaces.

Kabia explained that use of the facility requires only basic registration, compliance with the centre’s rules, and observance of its dress code. He noted that the initiative continues to attract people from varied backgrounds who depend on the centre for research, studying, internet access, training, and professional work.

One of the centre’s long-time users, Ishmeal Amadu Jalloh, Executive Director of Waste Free Salone, emphasized the Africell American Corner’s role during his university years and its continued support in his professional life. Jalloh praised the well-organized and conducive learning environment offered free of charge and thanked Africell Sierra Leone for their investment in education.

Students have also praised the facility for helping to ease many challenges associated with higher education. Moses K. James, a second-year College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences student, described the centre’s library as one of the best study spaces in the country, highlighting the computer laboratory’s role in improving his studies and digital skills.

Final-year medical student Salamatu Abu Bakarr Kamara noted the centre’s invaluable support throughout her academic journey, especially during periods of electricity shortage. She emphasized the importance of reliable electricity, free internet, and a safe environment for medical students needing uninterrupted study time.

As demand for reliable educational resources continues to grow, the Africell American Corner is helping to bridge the gap by providing thousands of Sierra Leoneans free access to knowledge, technology, and professional development opportunities. Through this flagship corporate social responsibility initiative, Africell Sierra Leone continues to invest in education, empower young people, and contribute meaningfully to national development.
