Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sushila Karki engaged in discussions with representatives from local level governments, focusing on election preparations and current challenges. The meeting, held in Baluwatar, included representatives from the National Association of Rural Municipalities in Nepal (NARMIN) and the Municipalities Association of Nepal (MuAN).
According to National News Agency Nepal, the discussions centered on the activities undertaken by local governments, the issues they face, and strategies for the upcoming elections. Attendees agreed on the necessity of cooperation between federal, provincial, and local governments to ensure good governance and law and order, aiming to create a conducive environment for elections.
Local representatives expressed satisfaction with Prime Minister Karki’s leadership in preparing for elections, acknowledging the government’s efforts and expressing optimism for the future. Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal and Law Minister Anil Kumar Sinha were also present, with Home Minister Aryal urging local governments to assist in maintaining law and order and supporting the government’s search for weapons and approximately 5,000 prisoners.
Prime Minister Karki emphasized the importance of coordination with local governments, stating that their role is crucial for the elections. She assured that the government would address local concerns and stressed the need for collective efforts in overcoming the current situation. The meeting also included Laxmi Devi Pandey, President of NARMIN, and Bhim Prasad Dhungana, President of the MuAN.
