Post: Police Arrest 10 Suspected Vandals and Arsonists Involved in Damak Incident


Ilam: Police have apprehended two youths from Chulachuli in Ilam for their alleged involvement in torching and vandalizing the Area Police Office in Damak during the protest that took place from September 8 to 9. The individuals, identified as Nakul Adhikari, 22, from Chulachuli rural municipality-3, and Riyaz Silwal, 19, from Chulachuli-5, were taken into custody on Sunday night for further investigation. With these arrests, a total of four people have been detained in connection with the attack on the Area Police Office, as confirmed by the District Police Office, Jhapa.



According to National News Agency Nepal, another individual, Sajan Luhagun, 21, originally from Miklajung-5 in Panchthar and currently residing in Damak-5, was detained two days prior for allegedly vandalizing the Area Police Office in Damak. The police action is part of an ongoing effort to arrest those involved in the violence during the Gen Z protest.



The police in Jhapa have so far detained four individuals from Damak and six from Birtamod, with investigations continuing. Visual evidence from videos and photos has been instrumental in identifying those involved in the protest-related violence.



Complaints have been lodged against more than 50 individuals accused of torching and vandalizing both public and private property during the protest, as reported by the police.
