Post: NAN Journalists Mourn Former Judiciary Correspondent Moji Eniola


Lagos: The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Lagos Chapel, has been plunged into mourning by the death of its member and former NAN judiciary correspondent, Ms. Mojirola Eniola. Eniola, aged 40, died on Sunday in Abuja during an illness. She was an Assistant Chief Legal Officer at NAN until her death. Her colleagues described her passing as sudden and distressing.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, a condolence message jointly signed by the Chairman of the chapel, Comrade Yusuf Yunus, and Secretary, Comrade Adeyemi Adeleye, stated that her death brought sorrow to the entire NAN family. The union described Eniola, a Barrister at Law, as a warm, brilliant, bold, humble, and focused colleague. Her professional excellence was admired by all who worked with her. The union expressed that Eniola was not only a consummate journalist but also a dependable friend and devoted comrade, noting that her passing has created a void that will be challenging to fill.



The chapel highlighted Eniola’s meritorious service as a judiciary correspondent in Lagos, where she distinguished herself through dedication and excellence. She excelled in every assignment entrusted to her and remained supportive and committed. The chapel prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul and asked for comfort for her family, colleagues, and friends.



Eniola, born on March 11, 1985, was employed by the News Agency of Nigeria on July 30, 2013. She hailed from Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi. In her honor, a minute of silence was observed, and a special congregational prayer session was held during an editorial meeting of journalists in Lagos. At the meeting, staffers, including the Acting Head of Lagos Office, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Omowole, and Eniola’s former Supervisor, Mrs. Ijeoma Popoola, expressed sadness at Eniola’s death.
