Abuja: The National Economic Council (NEC) Implementation Monitoring Committee (IMC) has praised the Edo Government for its dedication to enhancing the welfare of its residents.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the commendation was delivered by NEC/IMC Team Lead, Mrs. Busayo Awotunde, following an inspection tour of several legacy projects led by the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Elizabeth Ebosele. Awotunde observed that despite being in office for less than two years, Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration has made significant progress.
Awotunde emphasized the administration’s commitment to improving the lives of Edo’s population, stating, “We are going to report that the Edo government is committed to and aligned with efforts to improve the livelihoods of her people. Edo has invested resources and demonstrated commitment to ensuring that the objectives of the council’s resolutions are being achieved.”
Dr. Elizabeth Ebosele explained that the purpose of the monitoring team’s
visit was to assess the legacy projects initiated by the Okpebholo administration in accordance with NEC resolutions, rather than to scrutinize individuals. She highlighted the Ramat Park Flyover as a project born out of necessity to reduce traffic congestion and enhance the ease of doing business in the state. The flyover, which is nearing completion, is expected to be inaugurated soon.
“When completed, market women and other traders will be able to carry out their businesses more efficiently, thereby improving their economic activities. This economic empowerment is one of the key considerations of the governor when he assumed office. And this is why he immediately approved the construction of the flyover. The road connects to the federal highway linking the state to the northern part of the country,” Ebosele stated.
Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa also expressed appreciation for the monitoring team’s three-day assessment visit. He noted the visible impact of the state government’s legacy projects across Ed
o’s three senatorial districts, attributing any delay in construction to the ongoing rainy season.
