Post: Ngas Women Urged to Engage in Politics Ahead of 2027 Elections


Pankshin:The Ngas Women Development Association (NWODA) has encouraged its members and all women in Plateau to actively engage in politics as the 2027 general elections approach.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, Mrs. Godiya Kitgakka, the National Chairman of NWODA, made this call during the 2026 ‘Puus Rot Mmat Ngasmwa’ celebration. The event, held in Pankshin, was themed ‘The power of women involvement in politics.’



Kitgakka emphasized the importance of women taking an active role in politics, highlighting their resilience, productivity, and capacity to contribute significantly to nation-building. She advised women to step forward and make a noticeable impact in the political landscape, stating that the time has come for women to move beyond the background roles traditionally assigned to them.



She also urged political parties to support women in seeking elective positions and called on President Bola Tinubu and Governor Caleb Mutfwang to include more Plateau women in their administrations. Kitgakka praised Plateau women for their loyalty and productivity and expressed confidence in their ability to excel in any given assignment.



The celebration was described as a significant occasion for recognizing Ngas women and planning the future of the Ngas community. Kitgakka also encouraged the promotion of unity and peaceful coexistence among Plateau women.



In terms of support, NWODA has trained 60 women in various skills, extended soft loans to over 100 women, and donated grinding machines and water pumps to 15 women. Mr. Danjuma Gokum, National Chairman of the Ngas Development Association, praised the women’s wing for its initiatives to empower and support women economically.
