Lagos: The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced an expansion of its train services on the Abuja-Kaduna route, increasing from four to six daily services, operating from Monday to Friday. This development was confirmed by the acting Managing Director of the Corporation, Mr. Ben Iloanusi, in a recent statement issued in Lagos. The announcement, aimed at enhancing customer satisfaction and addressing concerns of ticket racketeering, reflects NRC’s ongoing commitment to improving its rail services.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the statement, signed by Mr. Yakub Mohmood, the Deputy Director of Public Relations of the NRC, detailed the rationale behind the decision. Mr. Iloanusi highlighted a trend analysis conducted over a five-month period, revealing a 22 percent increase in new passengers registering on the ticket platform to use the Abuja-Kaduna service. This indicates a growing preference among Nigerians for train services as a comfortable, reliable, and safe commuting option.
Furthermore
, Mr. Iloanusi noted that similar trends have been observed on other routes, including Lagos-Ibadan, Warri-Itakpe, and Port Harcourt-Aba. Efforts are underway to enhance services along these routes as well. He assured the public of the increased presence of senior management across all train service routes to ensure continuous efficiency and to address the issue of ticket racketeering effectively.
Customers are encouraged to utilize NRC’s online ticket platforms to benefit from the expanded services and to avoid engaging with ticket racketeers.
