Post: NILDS Director-General Urges Nigerians to Sustain Faith in Nation

Abuja:As the country celebrates its 66th Independence Anniversary, the Director-General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Prof. Abubakar Sulaiman, has called on citizens to maintain their faith in Nigeria and embrace patriotism.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Sulaiman emphasized the importance of collective responsibility and active engagement in nation-building, urging Nigerians to promote unity and inclusivity. He recognized the anniversary as a testament to the resilience and perseverance of the citizens, while also reflecting on the efforts of successive administrations to advance the vision of the nation’s founding fathers.

Aligning with this year’s theme, ‘From Reforms to Stability: Consolidating Nigeria’s Renewed Hope for Shared Prosperity,’ Sulaiman highlighted the significance of unity and collective participation. He stressed that Nigeria’s diversity should be viewed as a source of national strength rather than division.

Sulaiman, who previously served as the Minister of National Planning, reiterated that issues such as national cohesion, gender inclusivity, unity, economic development, and legislative governance are central to NILDS’ mission. He affirmed the Institute’s commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and promoting good governance across the country.

He extended congratulations to the leadership of the three arms of government, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker Abbas Tajudeen. Sulaiman encouraged Nigerians to remain committed to national unity and actively address the country’s security and developmental challenges.

While acknowledging that Nigeria has not yet achieved all its aspirations, Sulaiman noted the progress made in strengthening democratic institutions since independence. He called for a collective effort in creating a more inclusive and prosperous nation, wishing Nigerians a peaceful Independence Day and continued progress for the country.
