Abuja:Agility Onwurah, President and Founder of the Nollywood Cultural Heritage Festival (NCHF), announced that the 2026 edition will honor cultural enthusiasts and stakeholders for their efforts in promoting Nigeria’s rich cultural diversity both domestically and internationally.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the 14th edition of this annual cultural event is scheduled to take place from October 22 to October 24 at the FCT Exhibition Pavilion in Abuja. Themed ‘Preserving African Heritage Through Film, Culture, Tourism and Creative Enterprise,’ the festival is being organized in collaboration with the House Committee on Commerce.
The festival will celebrate stakeholders in art, culture, tourism, and the creative sector, featuring the African Fashion Runway, where prominent industry figures will model Nigerian attire. This platform aims to showcase traditional Nigerian clothing with vibrant fabrics and distinct ethnic styles, reflecting the country’s cultural diversity.
The event will also include an African Food Fest, highlighting indigenous meals from various communities and states, along with cultural dances, comedy performances, film screenings, and more. The first day will feature ‘Egwu Onwa’ (Moonlight Night), organized in partnership with the Abuja Resident Musicians Association (ABREMA), with live music and traditional activities.
Agility Onwurah stated that African films will be screened, with awards presented for the best film, best director, and other categories. The main focus on October 24 will be the awards ceremony, attended by royal fathers, cultural enthusiasts, and other guests. Panel discussions and keynote presentations will explore monetizing Nigerian cultural heritage.
The festival will remain free to encourage widespread participation, with stakeholders such as the Nigerian Breweries involved. Onwurah emphasized the need for collaboration with public and private organizations to sustain the festival, highlighting the financial challenges faced over the past 14 years and calling for partnerships to support the event.
