Ado-ekiti: A 90-year-old woman, Mrs. Rachael Abiodun, exercised her civic right by voting for her preferred governorship candidate at Ward 7 unit 8, Oke-Ila, in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Abiodun participated in the electoral process because of her confidence in the system. She expressed her desire for a better life for her children and grandchildren, many of whom have been unemployed for years despite being graduates. Abiodun believes that electing a competent leader could bring about change and transformation in people’s lives.
The news agency reported that Abiodun, assisted by a relative, successfully voted after a seamless accreditation exercise. Her participation in the election underscores her commitment to democratic values and civic responsibility. Abiodun urged Nigerians to engage more in the electoral process, emphasizing that voting is a means for the masses to effect positive change and improve the country.
She stated that when people abstain from voting, they indirectly allow unsuitable individuals to occupy important positions. Abiodun encouraged Nigerians to become more active in the democratic process, highlighting that it is crucial for making the country a better place.
