Post: NRS Tax Reforms to Bolster Business Growth

Abuja:The Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Dr. Zacch Adedeji, announced that the agency’s tax reforms are aimed at supporting businesses and promoting economic growth. He made these remarks during the 21st Abuja International Trade Fair.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Dr. Adedeji highlighted that the reforms are designed to simplify taxation, making it fairer, more transparent, and easier for businesses to comply. The focus is on using technology-driven solutions to facilitate compliance and create a fairer environment for businesses to thrive.

Dr. Adedeji emphasized the importance of government-private sector partnerships, particularly in the context of the trade fair’s theme, ‘Resilience Trade, Taxation and the Economy’. He called for simplified taxation and improved engagement with businesses to foster economic growth and resilience.

He noted that technology was transforming tax administration through platforms such as Rev360 and electronic invoicing, which make registratio
n, filing, and payment processes easier. Dr. Adedeji encouraged businesses to engage with the NRS, assuring them that the service is willing to address their challenges and improve processes affecting them.

Dr. Aliyu Hong, the Second Deputy President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), stressed the need for ongoing dialogue between the NRS and businesses to ensure a transparent and predictable operating environment. He advocated for closer engagement between government revenue agencies and the private sector to support business growth and investment.

Mr. Agbaidu Jideani, the ACCI Director-General, highlighted the importance of the NRS’s participation in the trade fair, noting that constructive engagement with businesses would enhance tax compliance and create a more predictable business environment. He reiterated the chamber’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurship, policy engagement, and business development.
