Benin: The Edo Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has decorated its Public Relations Officer, Mr. Efosa Ogbebor, along with 149 other officers and men who were recently promoted to new ranks. The ceremony took place at the command headquarters in Benin and was led by the State Commandant, Commandant Saidi Akintayo.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Commandant Akintayo emphasized that the event was a significant milestone in the history of the NSCDC in Edo State. He highlighted the unique appointment of an officer who has extensive experience in the state as the new State Commandant, noting this as an unprecedented achievement. Furthermore, he shared that the state had achieved the simultaneous production of three commandants for the first time, attributing this to the professionalism and dedication of the officers serving in the state.

The large number of promotions and the timing of the ceremony, within the first 100 days of Akintayo’s tenure, were described as evidence of ongoing positive reforms within the corps. The commandant reminded the newly promoted officers that their elevation in rank carries increased responsibilities and warned against indiscipline or misconduct. He expressed gratitude to the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the Commandant-General of the NSCDC, Prof. Abubakar Ahmed Audi, for their leadership and commitment to merit and justice within the institution.

In a goodwill message, legal practitioner Mr. Donald Boih commended the NSCDC for its progress and growing importance in Nigeria’s security framework. Boih urged the officers to maintain professionalism and continue to enhance the reputation of the NSCDC. On behalf of the promoted officers, Tijani Mohammed, now Deputy Commandant of the Corps, expressed gratitude and pledged renewed dedication to their duties.

Reacting to his promotion to Chief Superintendent of the Corps, Mr. Ogbebor described it as a morale booster and committed to enhancing efforts to protect national assets and ensure security in Edo State and Nigeria. He expressed appreciation for the support received from the Commandant-General, the Edo State Commandant, his colleagues, and friends, and pledged continued dedication to service.
