Lagos: The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has congratulated a fellow of the society, Elozino Olaniyan, on her appointment as the first female Chief Executive Officer of Midwestern Oil and Gas. In a congratulatory letter, NSE President, Mrs Margaret Oguntala, stated that the appointment, which takes effect from December 1, marks a significant achievement for the energy sector. Olaniyan has become the first woman to lead the company in its 26-year history.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Oguntala commended Olaniyan for her contributions to the energy sector and praised her role in opening doors for women in leadership positions within the oil and gas sector. The NSE President highlighted the success as a notable achievement for women in engineering and leadership, particularly in the oil and gas sector, where women have historically been under-represented.
Oguntala further remarked that Engr. Olaniyan’s appointment is a powerful testament to her excellence and determination. She noted that this milestone breaks down barriers for women in leadership, especially in industries like energy, where there is still a gender gap. Oguntala expressed that Olaniyan’s leadership will inspire future generations of engineers, particularly young women, to aim high and pursue careers in fields where they are underrepresented.
