Abuja: The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) has reiterated its commitment to collaborate with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to ensure seamless, responsive, and business-friendly service delivery across the nation. The Director-General of PEBEC, Mrs. Zahrah Mustapha-Audu, emphasized this in a statement.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Mrs. Mustapha-Audu praised the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) for its recent efforts to clear the backlog of driver’s licenses nationwide. She acknowledged the comprehensive measures taken by the corps to address service delivery issues related to delays in the production of driver’s licenses.
Following PEBEC’s formal communication on November 7, the FRSC conducted an internal review to identify delays within the national driver’s license production system. PEBEC commended the corps for restoring system functionality and implementing enhanced monitoring mechanisms to prevent future disruptions. The council acknowledged the successful clearance of accumulated backlogs and an increase in daily production capacity to 15,000 licenses, marking an important milestone in service efficiency.
The FRSC’s introduction of the Contactless Biometric Capture System was highlighted as a significant innovation, aiming to deliver permanent driver’s licenses within 48 hours and eliminating the need for temporary licenses. Mrs. Mustapha-Audu noted that this initiative aligns with PEBEC’s mandate to drive regulatory efficiency, enhance transparency, and improve the public service delivery experience.
She urged all applicants whose licenses have been produced to visit FRSC centers nationwide to collect their permanent driver’s licenses. This plea is part of a nationwide sensitization campaign by the FRSC to distribute over 294,000 unclaimed licenses. Collecting these licenses will help decongest service centers, improve turnaround times, and support the corps’ ongoing efforts to enhance operational efficiency.
