Abuja:Dr. Yusuf Yakub, the Director-General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), has embarked on a monitoring and evaluation mission in Liberia to assess the performance and welfare of Nigerian volunteers serving in the country.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the mission aimed to evaluate the impact of the Technical Aid Corps (TAC) volunteers deployed to Liberia. The Corps’ Head of Information and Public Relations, Mrs. Ojo Olubunmi, noted that the mission offered a chance for direct engagement with the volunteers, allowing NTAC leadership to review their assignments and contributions.
Dr. Yakub explained that the exercise helped identify challenges faced by the volunteers and assessed areas requiring additional institutional support to enhance their effectiveness. This monitoring and evaluation effort is part of NTAC’s commitment to ensuring that Nigerian professionals’ deployment aligns with the development priorities and needs of partner countries.
The director-general emphasized that the initiative reflects Nigeria’s commitment to South-South Cooperation and development diplomacy under President Bola Tinubu’s administration. It aligns with the administration’s 4-D foreign-policy agenda, which focuses on Democracy, Development, Demography, and Diaspora, as well as the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The mission further reinforced the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and Liberia, particularly in technical cooperation, human-capital development, and knowledge exchange. Dr. Yakub assured continued strengthening of NTAC’s monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to ensure effective delivery by Nigerian volunteers.
The NTAC director-general expressed gratitude to the Government and people of Liberia for their warm reception and ongoing support for Nigerian volunteers. The engagement underscores Nigeria’s dedication to sustaining mutually beneficial technical cooperation and strengthening professional and institutional partnerships.
Mr. Ajibe Yahaya, Team Lead for the TAC volunteers in Liberia, thanked Dr. Yakub for his support and attention to the volunteers’ welfare and professional development. He noted that the NTAC leadership’s encouragement had boosted the volunteers’ morale and commitment, assuring continued dedication to their duties and upholding Nigeria’s reputation in Liberia. Yahaya also praised the monitoring and evaluation mission as a demonstration of NTAC’s commitment to the volunteers’ performance and welfare.
