Igbesa: The Chief Judge of Ogun, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, inaugurated a Multi-Door Courthouse in the Idi-Oke/Igbesa area, aimed at enhancing access to justice and promoting Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the facility was donated by Oba Saheed Odusanya to commemorate his 10th coronation anniversary. Justice Dipeolu highlighted that the courthouse will provide residents, businesses, and investors with efficient, affordable, and timely mechanisms for resolving disputes, thereby avoiding prolonged litigation.
Justice Dipeolu elaborated that the multi-door courthouse offers options like mediation, conciliation, arbitration, and negotiation. These methods are designed to reduce the burden of extended court cases. She emphasized that not all disputes require a trial, and amicable settlements tend to preserve relationships and foster harmony more effectively than lengthy legal battles.
She reiterated that the primary goal is to resolve disputes quickly, fairly, and efficiently, minimizing the emotional and financial toll usually linked with extended litigation. The Chief Judge noted the significance of the location, identifying the Igbesa, Agbara, and Idi-Oke axis as one of Nigeria’s rapidly expanding industrial and commercial areas, necessitating a modern dispute resolution center.
Justice Dipeolu also expressed her gratitude to the traditional ruler for his continuous support of justice administration, noting his previous donations of court facilities in the region. She described the ruler’s contributions as a testament to his dedication to peace and justice. The project exemplifies successful collaboration among the judiciary, traditional institutions, and communities in strengthening justice delivery.
Furthermore, the Chief Judge revealed that the sixth Ogun Multi-Door Courthouse in Ilaro is ready for inauguration, part of ongoing efforts to broaden ADR services across the state. She encouraged residents and stakeholders to utilize the facility effectively to promote peaceful dispute resolutions and community harmony.
In a goodwill message, Justice Solomon Olugbemi, Chairman of the Governing Council of the Ogun Multi-Door Courthouse, praised the facility as a milestone in expanding access to justice through ADR.
