Abuja: Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, the immediate past Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has called for the restoration of the old Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN). Oloyede made this appeal during a civil reception in Abuja organized by the MSSN to recognize his impact and contributions to the nation.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Oloyede emphasized that reviving the MSSN would strengthen the organization and nurture younger generations. He urged former members to leverage their experiences and resources to rebuild the society, enabling it to effectively train and empower young Muslim boys and girls. He noted that restoring the values and structures of the old MSSN would provide young members opportunities to develop their leadership skills and contribute meaningfully to society.
Oloyede expressed concern about the current state of the MSSN, contrasting it with the organization during his youth. He highlighted that the MSSN formerly provided an environment for young members to learn leadership, responsibility, teamwork, and self-confidence. He stressed the need for the current generation to also gain such experiences and develop their capacities.
Highlighting the achievements of former MSSN members, Oloyede noted that many have become successful professionals and leaders. He urged these former members to trust younger generations and create opportunities for them to demonstrate their abilities, emphasizing the importance of mentorship and support in leadership development.
Sheikh AbdulRahman Ahmad, the National Missioner of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, supported Oloyede’s call for the revival of the MSSN. He stressed that the society played a crucial role in shaping members who later contributed to Nigeria’s development and questioned the sustainability of the organization if older professionals continued to dominate leadership positions without adequately preparing younger members.
Ahmad also praised Oloyede for his integrity and courage in public service, particularly for his approach to combating corruption. He highlighted that Oloyede’s career exemplified how public officers could focus on responsibilities without seeking power and positions, demonstrating that leadership roles could find those committed to integrity and hard work.
Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, former Governor of Kano State, congratulated Oloyede on his achievements as JAMB registrar, describing him as an exemplary ambassador of the Muslim society. Shekarau expressed gratitude for Oloyede’s service to humanity and commended the MSSN leadership for organizing the reception.
